Asian Culture Station ขอเชิญทุกท่านเข้าร่วมรับฟังการบรรยายโดยคุณ John Tung ผู้มีพื้นฐานการจัดการศิลปะวัฒนธรรมจากการศึกษาในสิงคโปร์และฮ่องกง และในตอนนี้ทำงานเป็นผู้ช่วยภัณฑารักษ์ของ Singapore Art Museum (SAM) ในประเทศสิงคโปร์ ดูแลส่วนงานการคัดเลือกศิลปะร่วมสมัยจากประเทศไทยสำหรับแต่ละนิทรรศการที่นั่น

ในช่วงทศวรรษที่ผ่านมาประเทศสิงคโปร์ได้ค่อยๆ สร้างตนให้เป็นศูนย์กลางของเอเชียอาคเนย์ในด้านนิทรรศการศิลปะและแหล่งรวมศิลปินกับผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านศิลปะ โดยมีทั้งกิจกรรมอย่างเทศกาล Singapore Biennale และงาน Art Stage รวมถึงสถาบันอย่าง NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore, National Gallery Singapore และ Singapore Art Museum ที่ต่างก็มีความโดดเด่นในภูมิภาคนี้ทั้งสิ้น

นับตั้งแต่เทศกาล Singapore Biennale ครั้งที่ 4 ที่จัดโดย SAM ในปี 2556 ทีมภัณฑารักษ์ได้มุ่งสะท้อนภาพชุมชนเอเชียอาคเนย์ออกมา ซึ่งทีมงานภัณฑารักษ์ชุดใหม่ของ SAM ที่มี John Tung อยู่ด้วย ก็ได้จัดเทศกาลครั้งล่าสุดในปี 2559 ในทิศทางเดียวกันนี้อย่างต่อเนื่อง

ในโอกาสที่คุณ John ได้เดินทางมาเยือนเมืองเชียงใหม่ เราจึงได้ชวนเขามาแบ่งปันประสบการณ์การทำงานที่ SAM และเล่าถึงสิ่งที่ SAM กำลังทำอยู่ในวันนี้และวันต่อไปในภายภาคหน้า รวมทั้งความเห็นของเขาต่อศิลปะร่วมสมัยไทยที่เขาได้ให้ความสนใจศึกษาวิจัยมาตลอด

Mini Talk by John Tung: Singapore Art Museum – Beyond a National Platform

Asian Culture Station is pleased to invite you to a talk by Mr. John Tung. He has a background in art and culture management through his studies in Singapore and Hong Kong. Currently, he is an Assistant Curator at Singapore Art Museum (SAM), Singapore. At SAM, he is in charge of the Thai contemporary portfolio, deciding which artists should be featured in different exhibitions.

 

Over the last decade, Singapore has gradually positioned itself as a hub to present Southeast Asian art exhibitions and artists/art experts. The notable exhibitions and institutions that place emphasis on this region is Singapore Biennale, Art Stage, NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore, National Gallery Singapore and Singapore Art Museum.

 

The 4th Singapore Biennale in 2013 was organized by SAM and devoted to reflect Southeast Asian community. A curatorial team of SAM Curators, including John Tung, also led the latest edition in 2016.

 

During John’s visit to Chiang Mai for his research, we would like to take this opportunity to invite him to share his experiences from working at SAM. He will explain to us what SAM is today and how it will be in the near future, including his opinion on contemporary Thai art through a perspective of his research and interest.

 

The talk will be in English and interpreted into Thai. The Q&A session will alternate between the two languages.
