Asian Culture Station ขอเชิญทุกท่านเข้าร่วมฟังการเสวนาโดย ปฐมพงศ์ มานะกิจสมบูรณ์ และ ปณิดา เชิดจารีวัฒนานันท์ ซึ่งเป็นชาวเชียงใหม่ที่จบการศึกษาเพื่อทำงานเป็นภัณฑารักษ์เช่นเดียวกัน โดย ปฐมพงศ์ เรียนมาทางด้าน การคัดสรรภาพยนตร์ ที่ Birkbeck แห่ง University of London ประเทศอังกฤษ ส่วน ปณิดา เรียนมาทางด้าน ความเป็นภัณฑารักษ์ (Curatorship – โดยเน้นในเรื่องของงานศิลปะเอเชีย และพิพิธภัณฑ์ศึกษา) ที่ University of Melbourne ประเทศออสเตรเลีย

ภัณฑารักษ์เป็นอาชีพที่ยังมีไม่มากนักในประเทศไทยทั้งที่มีความสำคัญอย่างยิ่งต่อการพัฒนาอาชีพทางศิลปะวัฒนธรรมในหลายสาขา เราจึงเชิญทั้งสองคนมาร่วมกันแบ่งปันประสบการณ์การศึกษา เล่าถึงการเรียนการสอนในทั้งสองมหาวิทยาลัยว่าเขาศึกษาอะไรกันบ้าง? การปฏิบัติงานภัณฑารักษ์ในภาคสนามของทั้งสองเมืองนี้เป็นอย่างไร? และระบบนิเวศทาง ภาพยนตร์-ศิลปะ สมัยใหม่-ร่วมสมัย ของแต่ละเมืองนั้นเป็นอย่างไรบ้าง? การสนทนานี้อาจช่วยขยายมุมมองให้ผู้ที่สนใจศึกษาทางด้านภัณฑารักษ์เห็นแนวทางในการไปศึกษาศิลปะหรือเพิ่มพูนความรู้ความเข้าใจในศาสตร์นี้ได้กว้างและไกลขึ้น

นอกจากการแบ่งปันประสบการณ์การศึกษาด้านงานภัณฑารักษ์แล้ว ทั้งสองมาบอกเล่าถึงการทำงานในปัจจุบัน ความมุ่งหวังที่ต่างคนต่างจะดำเนินต่อไปในภายภาคหน้า พร้อมทั้งความเห็นต่อศิลปะ และการร่วมมือในระดับภูมิภาคของพวกเขา

Mini Talk 【 Learn to Be a Curator 】

Asian Culture Station cordially invites you to attend a mini talk featuring prominent Chiang Mai-born curators, Pathompong Manakitsomboon and Panida Cherdjareewattananun. Both having studied abroad, Manakitsomboon graduated from the United Kingdom with a master’s degree in Film Curating from Birkbeck, University of London, while Cherdjareeewattananun holds a master’s degree in Curatorship (trained in Asian Art and Museum Studies) from the University of Melbourne, Australia. 

The curatorial profession is quite uncommon in Thailand, despite its significance in the development of careers in artistic and cultural practices. We, therefore, have invited the two curators to share their educational and professional experience and respond to questions such as: What are taught in curatorial programmes at their universities? What it’s like to work as a curator in the two cities? How is the ecosystem of art and film, of modern and contemporary scenes, in each city? This conversation may help to broaden the perspective of those who are interested in curatorial studies, shedding light on the path to art studies, or expand their knowledge in the art and science of curation.

Apart from discussing their educational career, the talk will also explore their current jobs, future expectations, as well as their individual opinions towards arts and regional collaboration of people who, like them, have trained to become curators.
