模合 MOAI vol. 1 : 100年後の芸術 | ART, 100 years later

"MOAI" is a series of events hosted by Haruka Iharada (Space tochka) that think , discuss and drink with a topics focused on art and contemporary culture.

2016, the era of being questioned a meaning of the art for the society. Around a Collectivism and Activism, how the arts go on the future of 100 years later, or what it should be.

On this time, Haruka IHARADA (tochka) and Takuro KOTAKA (Artist) are going to invite 3 speakers from Thailand, UK and Japan, thinkig about a “ART,100 years later” with own research topic and activities.

Atikom Mukdaprakorn (Artist, Thailand)

Born in 1981, Bangkok, Thailand. Co-founder of mute mute, which emphasizes mutual discussion about society in order to expand the boundary of perception through art, cultural performances and social activities in different forms. He is personally interested in media/art culture, especially domestic photography, freedom of expression and the state of art in Thailand. These form the basis for many of the conditions used in his media/art performances. Currently, he has been collaborating on the project “Chiang Mai Art Conversation” which originated in Chiang Mai. The purpose of the project is to facilitate a connection of art with discussion and Thai society to gain greater knowledge through all kinds of management and media.
He has been involved in many art projects including “Art Jockey” (Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Bangkok, 2015), “Mycelioid Adjustment” (Gallery Seescape, Chiang Mai, 2014) and “Run for No One / ART AIDS (Thailand 2012): You Are Not Alone” (Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Bangkok, 2012).

The National Museum Of Art, Okutama opened 2012, private art museum that introduced themselves "the national". It made from a restored old lumber-mill at deep in the mountains. This place usually use for artist studio and open as a museum once every 2 years. Inside the building, the structure by stell frames and woods being bare, the floor is unstable, and the air-conditioner doesn’t work. It needs a ticket made of wood and the ticket-collector is a grinder. "13 days of The Premium Drifting" that held on 2014 being attracted over 1000 visitors until just this 13days. Masahiro WADA and Atushi YAMAMOTO who attended Yokohama Triennale 2014 are also concerned with them. On this time, Masahiro SATSUKA as a chief director of museum, Chiharu NINAGAWA as a curator, Tomohiro NAGAHATA and Takuro KOTAKA as artists will be present a new plan that will be held in September on this year.

Jason Waite (Curator)
Jason Waite is an Independent curator focused on forms of practice toward forming agency across diverse fields such as art, society, politics and critical theory. He co-curated Don’t Follow the Wind (dontfollowthewind.info) inside the Fukushima radioactive zone, The Real Thing? Palais de Tokyo, Paris, and White Paper: The Law by Adelita Husni-Bey at Casco – Office for Art, Design and Theory, Utrecht (useofspaceconvention.org) where he was recently curator. He holds an M.A. in Art and Politics from Goldsmiths College, London and was a Helen Rubinstein Curatorial Fellow at the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program, New York.
